Path of Totality

Time & Space Theme

Map something where time matters.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse traversed North America, offering a rare celestial spectacle. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Sun and Earth, completely obscuring the Sun's face and casting a shadow over parts of the Earth.

The path of totality—the narrow region where observers experienced complete darkness—began over the South Pacific Ocean and made landfall on Mexico's Pacific coast around 11:07 a.m. PDT. It then moved northeast through the United States. The eclipse continued into Canada, crossing Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia, before exiting the continent on Newfoundland's Atlantic coast at 5:16 p.m. NDT

I had traveled to Rochester, NY in anticipation to view this rarity only to be confronted with cloud coverage.
